More Web Development Courses

Which course is best for web development?

This depends on your budget, schedule, and specific skills that you want to learn.

Budget
Like other things, the price of web development courses widely ranges. The spectrum starts with free courses on the other end and expensive coding bootcamps on the other. Somewhere in the middle are mid-priced courses.

A common question people ask is if there are free or affordable courses, why pay for bootcamps?

Again, as with most cases, you get what you pay for. Free courses will not provide the level of training and guidance that you need to be a professional developer within months. You’ll have to do it all on your own, and that is a longer and lonelier journey up ahead.

Free courses are a good starting point to get a glimpse of what coding is like and see if it’s something you’ll really enjoy.

If you are 100% sure that you want to pursue a career in web development, and if you have the budget for it, I will suggest coding bootcamps or at least a mid-priced course on Udemy.

Availability
Another thing you have to consider is your schedule and the level of commitment you’re willing to make. If you have a full-time job, you need a course with flexible scheduling. Lots of courses have pre-recorded videos that you can watch in your free time.

On the other hand, full-time bootcamps require a minimum of 40 hours of your week. But what sets them apart is the personal coaching and assistance you’ll get. Some bootcamps even help you land a job after you graduate.

Skills to learn
You also have to pay close attention to the skills or topics that the course will cover.

Some courses focus on a specific language/framework such as Python or React. Because the focus is on one skill, the discussion will likely be more comprehensive and in-depth.

This is the ideal choice if you already have the basic foundations of web development or if you have prior experience and you’d like to add a skill to your toolkit.

On the other hand, some courses teach several languages and the fundamentals of web development in general to give you a wider perspective on the different facets of web development.

Aside from these, you also have to consider if the course gets regularly updated to discuss new tools, languages, and other relevant industry information.
